Part exhibit, part historical talk, part workshop, join Ellie as she celebrates her very favorite holiday! Who really was St. Valentine? Who sent the oldest valentine still in existence and what did it say? How did sending paper valentines to loved ones catch on in so many places? These and other questions will be answered in this fun and informative presentation.
Ellie has been making her own handmade valentines since she was four years old. Every year she creates paper and lace treasures for her friends and family and she celebrates anything and everything heart-shaped all year long. Ellie will share her collection of vintage valentines and her research into the history of this holiday with participants.
As a special treat, Ellie will bring valentine-making supplies to the venue so everyone in attendance can create their own special handmade valentine to take home. Participants who collect valentines and wish to share their collection with the group will be given time at the end to showcase their treasures. The show and tell and valentine-making workshop will take place after the talk.
